Devon Contractors has been sucessfully operating in Devon and the surrounding counties for over sixty years. Our business philosophy is centered on producing high quality, good value sustainable buildings and works, both on budget and on time. We employ local labour, and aim to keep both our clients and our employees for the long term. We are a non-confrontational contractor, and are especially proud of our impeccable safety record.
The business now operates from our purpose-built offices at Hill Barton, just five minutes drive from M5 junction 30 at Exeter. Our operations cover the whole of the South West, not just all over Devon, but we view ourselves primarily as a local contractor.
We consider it vital that we maintain our uncompromising standard of construction excellence by achieving quality craftsmanship, competitive cost control, punctual project completion and open communication. |

Any profits made by the company are dispersed within the county, and not syphoned away to a head office in another part of the British Isles.
Every employee works in, lives in and cares about the county. We know the area and give voice to local issues.
We prefer to use local subcontractors and specialists to keep trade within the community.
We are constantly sourcing our work from within the South West, and have been for the last 60 years, so we will never, ever be looking to take advantage of a client then move on to another area. Client satisfaction is very important to us, so we are not confrontational within our contract, we promote teamwork within the client, professional and contractor relationships. |

| Our employees tend to stay with the business for most of their working careers, judged against any industry let alone our competitors. We hope this shows that our company is a flexible, reliable, fun and interesting place to work that encourages our employees to stay for the long term. |

This means each member of the business has an important part to play, and has probably been doing their job for a long time. They can therefore draw from a wealth of experience to address each new project with the same vigour and enthusiasm as their first.
Our experience does not mean that the business does not keep pace with the commercial world, and our working styles have developed a great deal in our sixty year trading history! Of course, our central aims of quality, value, punctuality and integrity are just as important today as they have always been, and will continue to be for as long as we come to work every morning.
The business has a open minded outlook on new ideas and drives innovation in all aspects of our work. This is easy to see in our offices, where email and computer assisted project management is now normal practice, but is also evident on site where the suggestions of all site staff are considered if offered, and are of course rewarded if implemented.
The company promote recruitment from the younger generations to keep the dermographic distribution of the business well balanced. This includes offering attractive apprentiships with all the trades on site, graduate recruitment, and of course provision of continuing professional development for our current employees. |
