Devon Contractors Ltd. are committed to working in harmony with the local environment and the community, and not against it, right from the initial design phase. We make it a very high design priority that there will be a minimal impact on the local environment during both the construction and lifetime of the building. Our high building standards and quality materials ensure the building will be the best our client could hope for, and of benefit to future generations.
During the construction phase, we recycle materials if it is at all possible to include them in the building scheme. At our design & build redevelopment of the abandoned railway yards at Newton Abbot, we managed to restore many pieces of structural and aesthetic importance for re-use within the scheme to the great satisfaction of our clients.

We subscribe to the goal of the Devon Local Agenda 21 Action Plan, and the Cornwall Structure Plan 1997 and 2004 review. We work hard to help educate our workforce in modern principles of health and safety, sustainable construction (especially the minimization of waste), the use of energy, and the re-use of recyclable materials.
It is our policy to make the best use of any available resources for our work, including the people, land, materials, local supply chains etc for the benefit of the client and the local community. The company has been and always shall be based in the county, so it is in our interests to look after the local community and its environment, because after all, we live and work here too! We aim to create a dialogue with those people local to our projects so they are aware of what we are doing and what we hope to achieve. |
