Mylor Yacht Club, Falmouth
This ambitious project creates a new base for the Mylor Yacht Club at Falmouth and occupies a prestigious and commanding position on a granite quay on the site of the former Mylor Naval Dockyards Guardhouse - the smallest Naval base in the Country.
The narrow, twisty roads into Mylor presented a logistical challenge for the Site Team, which was compounded by restricted turning space and the occasional flooding of the compound at high spring tides.
Contract Value
-
£1.5Million, on target to be completed ahead of schedule in June 2011
The project was the vision of the Yacht Club's Membership, and remains privately owned. Because of its proximity to the slipways and the working area of the marina, the design had to offer changing rooms, function and club rooms, retail space and yet maintain a highly efficient use of the available space.
The yacht club was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal on the 18th of July 2011. Photographs capturing the day’s festivities can be seen here.
Many thanks to Dan Cape of Vickery Holman who provided us with the link to this interesting video condensing the entire project into a 5 minute video. See the video now
