Mayflower Community School Starts its first Term

This flagship project opened on time for the beginning of the academic year despite some major last minute alterations to the scheme.

Cabinet member for children and young people, Cllr Grant Monahan, said "I would like to pass on particular thanks to the project teams, schools and the contractors who have worked exceptionally hard to make these schools happen."

Our summer intake of budding Construction Professionals has been met with the usual interest and excitement in the Staff Room, and the students have so far found their experiences to be rewarding:

 

"The meetings I have sat in on make it clear why it is essential to have not only a good relationship amongst staff, but also with other parties that you deal with."

The focus of this year's internships is our restoration and refurbishment work.

Devon Contractors were delighted to assist locally-born artist Dail Behennah in the commissioning of her new work 'Labelled' in the mezzanine window at the Plymouth Museum.

The piece is the first of a series of contempory works for the 'Looking In - Looking Out' collection, which explores the issues fo evolution and extinction.

We were delighted to welcome the future pupils of Ham Drive Primary School on a site visit last wednesday.

Besides supplying us with useful feedback about their new school, the pupils clearly were not prepared to accept any delay in the completion of their football pitch!
