St Loyes Houses Sold Out!

Subject to exchange of contracts, the recent residential development at St Loyes, Exeter for Heavitree Breweries has now sold its last residence. Most sales were agreed prior to completion, and our Site Staff would like to think their friendly, informative site tours helped persuade the new owners’ decision to purchase!

Just a quick line to say thank you for the good work you guys did. We are now fully operational, and it's great to have quality room to work in. The new office is a pleasure to work in, (windows and so much light) lol. and toilet/shower block is great. A big thank you to Pete Morrish, he did a great job and was on top of everything, he made sure no one took short cuts and did a good job.
Apart from being surrounded by Man U, and Arsenal fans, it was a very good working relationship.

Mayflower Community School Awarded BREEAM rating of VERY GOOD

Our Award Winning Design and Build Team were delighted to learn yesterday that our £7.2Million D & B Community School in Plymouth has been awarded a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ in recognition of the project’s sustainability achievements.

Mylor Yacht Club Royal Opening

Officials, Local Dignitaries, Club Members and the local community turned out to watch HRH the Princess Royal officially open the new Yacht Club at Mylor yesterday.

Construction Excellence Club tour St Aubyn's Church

The Plymouth Construction Excellence Club hosted an evening presentation on the issues surrounding Low energy Refurbishment, combined with a tour of the recently finished refurbishment project at the Church. Speakers Peter Warm of Warm Consultants and John Whitefield of Mitie (who had travelled from Cambridge to speak to the CE Club) gave a talk on the basics of energy savings in the country's existing building stock, and the funding routes available for these savings.

Devonport Park Pavilion Highly Commended at the LABC Gala Awards Dinner

We were delighted to have three projects nominated for this year's regional LABC Awards, and even more pleased that all three were shortlisted. Our Site and Project Teams attended a Gala Awards Dinner at the Imperial Hotel, Torquay, on Friday night and were thrilled to collect a Commendation in the Best Community Development Category of the South West Regional Building Excellence Awards 2011 for the Devonport Park Pavilion.

This competition is open to members of the RIBA, the Plymouth Architectural
Trust and students studying Architecture at the University of Plymouth, and
aims to capture the essence of life in 21st Century Plymouth through it's peoples
interactions with the built environment of the City.
The competition is open until the 17th of June, and all entries should be emailed (300dpi, JPEG, max 3MB) to simon.francis@capita.co.uk with a title and up to fifty words describing the photo. T &Cs, judgement procedures etc. are available from Capita.

The Devonport
Guildhall and
St Aubyn's Church scooped
the People of Plymouth Award and the Best Conversion or Conservation Project
respectively at a black tie gala awards presentation dinner held at Boringdon
Park last night.
The Guildhall was also highly commended under the Best Conversion or Conservation Project, and St Aubyn's Church won the much coveted Abercrombie Award for the best of the seven categories.

LABC South West Building Excellence Awards

Two of our recent projects have been shortlisted for this year's South West
Regional Awards. We're thrilled that these contracts are amongst the best quality
builds in the region.
The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony held on the 24th of June at the Barcelo Imperial Hotel in Torquay. Last year, we collected the Best Technical Development Award and were a Finalist in the Best Educational Development Category.

Devon Contractors Collect Bronze Award at 2011 Considerate Constructors National Site Finals

We're
thrilled to collect a National Bronze Award for the second year running at
the glamorous Gala Dinner held at the Plaisterers' Hall, London.
Our congratulations go to Miles Boswijk, the Site Manager, and Andy Wells, the Contracts Manager for their sustained efforts across the duration of the project. Martin White, Site Manager currently for our redevelopment work in Launceston, assisted Miles in the final few weeks of the project and was instrumental in its success at these awards.

Seaton Pre-School completes four days ahead of schedule

Despite extremely unhelpful weather in the early stages of this short contract,
the Construction Scheme lead by Site Manager Pete Morrish handed the new Pre-School
at Seaton to Devon County Council, the Clients, four days ahead of schedule.
