Mayflower Community School nominated for Regional LABC South West Building Excellence Awards

This state of the art new School in Ham, Plymouth, Designed and Built by Devon Contractors, has been shortlisted for the Regional Finals in the Best Educational Development Category.

The winners will be announced at a black tie gala dinner on Friday 18th June at the Imperial Hotel, Torquay.



Plymouth High School for Girls Project shortlisted for Regional Award

Toward the end of last year, Devon Contractors completed a £multi-million restoration and refurbishment of the Grade II listed Arts Hall at the Plymouth High School for Girls to form a new Library and Sixth Form Centre. 




This project has been shortlisted for the LABC South West Building Excellence Awards 2010 under the Best Technical Development Category.

The winners will be announced at a black tie gala dinner on Friday 18th June at the Imperial Hotel, Torquay.



Devon Contractors take the Bronze Award at the 2010 Considerate Constructors National Finals

The Design and Build Team for Mayflower Community School were delighted to win this prestigious and much coveted award in recognition for their extensive community efforts throughout the construction of this £multi-million  project.

Collecting the award on behalf of the D&B Team are Director Daryn Hunt and Chief Estimator Steve Craddock.

This £7.2Million Design and Build project by Devon Contractors has made it to the final round of these prestigious awards under the 'Best Outdoor Learning Environment' category.


The awards ceremony, where the final Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be announced, is to be held at the Delfina in Bermondsey on the 24th of June.

The new Pets at Home Store, situated at the Bubble Retail Park, Liskeard is nearing completion ahead of schedule. This attractive, partially timber clad building champions local employment and use of materials, particularly with the distinctive stone walls that form the lower part of the structure.

Mayflower Community School Starts its first Term

This flagship project opened on time for the beginning of the academic year despite some major last minute alterations to the scheme.

Our summer intake of budding Construction Professionals has been met with the usual interest and excitement in the Staff Room, and the students have so far found their experiences to be rewarding:

'Labelled' unveiled at the Plymouth Museum

Devon Contractors were delighted to assist locally-born artist Dail Behennah in the commissioning of her new work 'Labelled' in the mezzanine window at the Plymouth Museum.

The piece is the first of a series of contempory works for the 'Looking In - Looking Out' collection, which explores the issues fo evolution and extinction.

Besides supplying us with useful feedback about their new school, the pupils clearly were not prepared to accept any delay in the completion of their football pitch!
