Company Values
Collaboration, not Confrontation.
Our partnering philosophy is one of open collaboration. We believe that by working in an open partnership as part of a multifunctional team a quality, best value end product is delivered to the client. We believe that working in a partnership ensures the quality of the project, protection of the environment, and benefits the local population.
Partnering to us means that all parties are working for a common goal on a totally open book basis, with no confrontation, and everyone working to achieve the best possible result for the end client.
By working this way we believe that it promotes better relationships between the client, end user, design team and contractor. We firmly believe that including the supply chain in this process ends the need for disputes and at the same time promotes openness between partners, innovation, better use of technology and best value for the end user.
We are keen to promote the integration of the supply chain into all of our partnering projects, so that the unlimited base of knowledge and expertise can be readily at hand for the use of the project team, as well as a ready known series of costs to help with accurate budgeting of projects.
A recent example of this is the refurbishment of the Plymouth Museum, where bringing Mitie, our preferred supply chain partner, on board at an early stage enabled both Mitie and the electrical consultant to investigate the existing services together and produce a detailed strategy for dealing with the new works, upgrading the existing infrastructure and produce an economical but fully functional design.
Another example of this has been in our association with Mr. & Mrs. Nigel Mansell at their Woodbury Park Development. We have been working with Mr. & Mrs. Mansell and the management at Woodbury for over 10 years, and have helped in the design and development of the hotel, conference centre, health suite and swimming pool. All of this has been through a partnering concept.
Devon Contractors are always looking looking to improve services to customers. We follow a proven method of collating KPIs to review our business, and to ensure that we analyse the results of these KPIs to apply learning on future projects.
The fundamental concepts that we as a company follow are:
-
Leadership – Leaders creating clear unity of purpose in the business. Communicating by words and actions the values of the business. Basing plans and actions on reliable information and effective processes through management by fact.
-
Developing and Involving People – Achieving the business’s full potential by involving everyone and by encouraging them to develop their abilities.
-
Continuous Learning, Innovation and Improvement – Sharing knowledge and continuously improving the business to maximise its performance. Developing mutually beneficial relationships with organisations the business depends on, building trust, sharing of knowledge and working together.
-
Customer Driven – putting the customer at the heart of the business, keeping a clear focus on the needs of the customer.
-
Responsibility Towards the Community – Being a good corporate citizen, adopting an ethical approach and exceeding the expectations of the community.
