Devonport Guildhall, Plymouth

Devonport Guildhall, Devonport Column and the Oddfellows Hall form a cluster of Grade I listed buildings at the end of Ker Street, Plymouth. The Guildhall's refurbishment, supported by the Devonport Community Partnership and the Office for the Third Sector, injects new life into the building as a centre for arts, media and culture which will be run by the Real Ideas Organisation. Devon Contractors employed both specialist stonemasons and plasterers to carry out the restoration of the masonry and lime plaster lath ceilings, as well as utilising our own master carpenters and joiners to work on the restoration of the doors, windows, and retained joinery.

Awards

Our efforts throughout the construction process were rewarded with a Bronze Considerate Constructors National Site Award in the 2011 Finals.

The project was also nominated and shortlisted in the Best Community Development category of the 2011 LABC South West Building Excellence Awards.
