Sustainability & the Environment

Devon Contractors takes the impact our business has on the environment very seriously. Our Environmental and Sustainability Policy and procedures have been independently assessed, and we are proud to hold ISO 14001 certification.

Sustainability is not just a policy – it's a core part of how we operate. From pre-construction through to handover, we consider the long-term environmental impact of every project. This matters not only to us, but to our clients, our supply chain, our staff and the communities we work in. We believe in responsible construction that respects the past and protects the future.

We actively reduce our carbon footprint through smart logistics planning, use of local supply chains, investment in low-emission site equipment, and careful waste management. Recent projects, including Derriford District Centre and Tithebarn Green Community Hub, have been delivered with strong sustainability credentials – from BREEAM ‘Very Good’ ratings to significant use of renewable technologies and high-efficiency building systems.

Internally, we’re promoting a culture of environmental responsibility: staff training on sustainable practices, carbon-conscious site set-ups, and ongoing review of material choices to reduce embodied carbon. We also encourage collaboration with our clients and design teams to embed sustainability from the outset.

Sustainability is a shared journey, and we’re proud to be taking real steps forward – not just meeting standards, but aiming to exceed them.
